Kids of Steel Triathlon Canada

“Its hard to believe the Caledon C3 Kinetico Kids of Steel Triathlon is already in it’s 10th year” said race director Stewart Barclay.    The event began as a way to honour Olympic Gold Medalist Simon Whitfield after his victory in Sydney in 2000” said Olympic coach Barrie Shepley.   The Caledon event prides itself on being the largest kids triathlon in Canada each year, with over 120 kids in the 2.5-5 year old category alone.  “We have over 150 volunteers who are dedicated to this race each year and we understand that its our way to give kids and families a chance to participate in triathlon” said race director Stewart Barclay.

The day is broken into 5 segments.   Early morning is the adult pool triathlon race.   Late morning are the older teen categories.  Lunch is a 5km open running race.  Immediately after lunch is the 2.5-5 year old mini-event.  Finally early and mid-afternoon are the younger pre-teen categories.   “Our top Professional C3 High Performance Athletes will be in attendance to meet the kids and help volunteer throughout the day” said their coach Barrie Shepley.
