WORKOUTS

C3 SWIM
PROGRAM
C3 has pool time
1 - 2 p.m. every Sunday at Mayfield pool (where coaches Sean Bechtel and Hans Porten can give you a
few tips in between their own workouts. Join the group on
Sundays 1 - 2 p.m. These swims are free for all 2009 C3
members until the end of December.
All workouts
will remain the same except: Dec. 24 - run will be held 3:15 - 4:30
p.m. & yoga is cancelled; no spin workout on Dec. 26; no run
or yoga on Dec.31. Check the website www.c3online.ca for full holiday
schedule.
NEW
MEMBERSHIP FORMAT IN 2010
Within the next
few weeks the C3 Board will unveil the new membership format which
will result in lower fees for the upcoming year. This change is a
direct result of feedback from our club members. Stay tuned!
C3 is looking
for interested members to serve on the C3 Board for
2010. Involvement would be limited to a maximum of one meeting
per month and most discussions are held by e-mail. Please
contact info@c3online.ca if you are
interested. This is your chance to really have a say in what goes on
at C3!

PAULINE SKOWRON WINS EGG NOG JOG
C3's 17 year old
star runner/triathlete Pauline Skowron won last
weekend's prestigious Egg
Nog Jog by one second over a very experienced older
runner. Other members who had great races included: Gary
Hutchinson (12th overall), Hans Porten (2nd in the men's 50 category), Greg Yaneff (28th in the
men's 40 category). Larry O'Connell, Larry Karasiuk, and Uli Porten all had very
solid performances on the tough and sometimes slippery course. Congrats
to all.
FORMER C3 PRESIDENT HITS THE BIG 65
Larry Karasiuk was celebrating
his birthday a day early at the Egg Nog Jog. The former C3 president
is a 2x Ironman finisher and a Boston Marathon Qualifier from
2009.
C3 MEMBERS BACK FROM SOUTH CAROLINA
With a few
vacation days that he had to use up before January, C3's new
Co-Chairman Glenn Gundermann just returned
from a 4 day epic bike clinic with C3 elite Sean Bechtel. A small group
of C3 athletes headed down to South Carolina for 350 km of hilly
riding. "It was great to be in our t-shirts getting in some
great bike mileage" said Bechtel.
OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY
Several C3
members and friends will be carrying the Olympic Torch in the next 2
weeks. Barrie Shepley will be carryed the Torch near
Peterborough on Wed 16th. Darren Karasiuk will be carrying the Torch
the on Dec 17th near Whitby/Ajax, Anna Davenport will be carrying
the torch near Orangeville and Lisa Bentley will be
carrying the Torch Dec 30th near Muskoka. Congratulations
to all these people on this great honour.

members are undertaking personal challenges in 2010 in order to raise
funds for charity. Please consider giving them your support. And if

grandmother herself, Shirley will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in
January, 2010 in support of the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the

walking coach Uli Porten will be taking on the 60 Km walk at the Weekend to End Breast Cancer
event in June 2010 in Ottawa. You can

Glenn
Gundermann, C3 Co-Chair will be participating in the 12th Annual Friends For Life
Bike Rally in support of the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation.
The charity bike ride takes place July 25 - 30 and covers over 600 KM
over the course of six days, riding from Toronto to Montreal.

For his personal
challenge, C3 swim coach/art director Miguel Vadillo is planning to
swim across Lake Ontario in the summer of 2009. As soon as his
website is ready to accept donations, C3 will pass that info on to
its members. Miguel will also be looking for training partners and a
support crew. Miguel's first training event will be on Jan
23/10 in Acapulco, Mexico - see below for details if anyone else
would like to accompany him.
